Spring/Summer 2009 is blooming! It is a time of newness, reinventing, freshness, and creative self expression. The word “change” seems to be part of our daily vocabulary. As history has taught us, lifestyle always dictates fashion! This season is no exception to the rule and is the perfect time to express your passions, thoughts & protests all through what you wear, and in particular, your accessories. The Spring season fashion trends are reflecting the extreme aspects of the 1960’s. You will see art as a prominent influence to fashion accessories; Miuccia Prada’s runway spring collection of painted like prints and patterns on accessories were influential and inspiring to designers and manufacturers alike.
Speaking of hippie-chic, you may be noticing the “Peace” sign is just about everywhere. We are right in the middle of celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the “Peace” symbol. It certainly is a sign of the times. My mom graduated in
1965. She bought her first peace sign charm set in sterling silver for her charm bracelet; she was a freshman then and she wore it all through high school. By her wearing the peace symbol she supported all of her friends that were there and for peace. We want to hear your protest! If you still have your peace gear, dig it out, we want to see and hear your peace saga! Click on the link to read all about the origin of the Peace sign.

Recently, we were invited by Accessories magazine, a progressive, creative, and highly talented global leader and voice in the fashion accessory industry, to be part of the Fashion POV , our objective was to design a model for their Fall 09’ fashion spread in their March issue called “Borrowing from the Boys”. We were chosen & recognized for our fashion sense along with 3 other prominent retailers in the nation. They were looking for “Four Fashion Points of View”, to see how we (individually) bring all of the amazing trends to you from the runways. We all had the same fashions to choose from yet we all had very different perspectives and images; which holds truth to each of you creating your own style, which is exactly our philosophy at Serendipity. We can give you all the colors, patterns, shapes, and materials that are on trend – it is up to you to put it together any way you want. There is no right or wrong, it’s what you love and what you feel great in. We were thrilled to have the experience and special Thanks to Lauren Parker for the invitation and the entire creative team at “Accessories” and to Peter Sakas for the amazing photos.
“Pittsburgh Today Live” invited us on the show 02/09/09 to feature Spring 09’ collection and to acknowledge our recognition; so if you missed it, check it out on our website www.serendipityaccessories.com.
Below enjoy behind the scenes footage of the photo shoot along with the article.
Think of yourself as a tabula-rosa (a blank slate) this spring create yourself a masterpiece!
